Alamo Film Group
Members of the Alamo Film Group (AFG) discovered each other under a social meeting group in 2019. Most of the initial members were inexperienced in the area of filmmaking, but all of them had a passion to learn and create. With the assistance and mentorship of a few seasoned members, the team quickly learned the ins and outs of creating films through practice and execution. The group soon completed several short films, many of which have won awards and been official features in a variety of film festivals
AFG started a Facebook group in 2020 to bring the San Antonio filmmaking community together. The group has since grown to over 1200 members.
AFG has also started projects to promote creativity and filmmaking in the community. The “Make Your Movie!” interview series spotlights local talent, crew, and allies that help to promote San Antonio and South Texas filmmaking. The group has also created an annual “Script-to-Screen” contest, where screenwriters submit their short screenplays with the chance of winning the prize to have that script shot and produced by AFG.
